We have two years old cherry tree which this year had an abundance of cherries growing on it. However, one day they all but got eaten. Not sure if this is due to birds or squirrels.
How can I stop this from happening?

I have known pigeons to do this - just a pair of pigeons per tree. Just the day before you would have harvested them. The only solution is to net the whole tree - or net a couple of branches worth at least.
