I have a plant growing in a wooden container and don't know what it is. It is very similar in appearance to "Chives" but instead of a flower head at the top of leaf it has little tufty flowers about halfway up each leaf.

Can someone tell me what this plant is?

It’s some sort of sedge. Likes damp places, so your container must be well watered!

Thank you for your reply. The container is bone dry. It wasn't planted in there originally but appeared last year and now it's taken over. If it's worth keeping I would like to repot in it's own container but not sure what it is and how to treat it. I am not a very good gardener but trying to learn.

It is not chives, but a wild plant (not sure of name) which grows in my front garden, although I did not pant it. It can be found on the mountains in Wales in wet/damp areas, although it will grow anywhere. As kids we used to call it a "bull rush" but I don't know why it got this name.
I think it will self seed from the small brownish flower head it grows. Hope this helps.

Thank you, but I think I will remove it altogether.
