I have a tangerine sage in a pot that I bought on a visit to a long-distance friend. I want to preserve the plant, but have poor success overwintering deciduous & tender plants indoors and have no access to seed.
Are there any other ways I could propagate this? I'm a novice gardener, although bright and willing to experiment :)

Hi Rebecca, I am not sure what you mean by not having acces to seed - you should be able to collect your own from the plant if you wait for it to develop - don't deadhead all of the flowers, leave some so that you can collect the seed, then save them until spring and sow them indoors. Otherwise, you can take semi-ripe stem cuttings, this is a link to a video showing you how (including pineapple sage, which is the same species as yours) How to take semi-ripe cuttings
If your plant can handle the loss of stems, I'd take a few, as they may not all succeed. All the best for a good result, Marissa

Hi Marissa,
It's a young plant, and only had one flowering stem which I checked and doesn't appear to have any seed pods on it (nothing has produced much seed in my garden this year). I also looked online for seed and couldn't see any. I'll try the semi-ripe cuttings that you suggest. Thank you :)

Hi, Rebecca,
Great advice from Marissa. If you add this plant to your 'Plants I Have' list in Shoot, you will get reminders as to when and how to propagate - always helps me as I am quite forgetful these days!
