I thought was crabgrass but understand that is not something that is native in the UK but really looks like it.

It’s in areas big and small and when the rest of the grass is dark green this is more of a lime colour so really sticks out. Relatively easy to pull out when a standalone clump but in large areas not easy to pull out without pulling out the grass around it. I read that if it was crabgrass it will die out over the winter and if I put a pre-emergent herbicide down in early spring it should stop the seeds from germinating. But as I now don’t think it is crabgrass I don’t know how to treat it.
