"Good morning. I am desperately trying to fulfil orders for clients but lots of my usual suppliers are closed. Can you recommend or do you know any suppliers that are still open for business? Who is selling and delivering plants still?"

UPDATE 3rd April 2020: We have now also started this regional list by county of all the online, mail order, local delivery retailers and suppliers of garden plants and gardening materials such as compost recommended by our community.

If you have more suggestions to add to this list please reply to this forum thread with the details and we will add them to our regional list too.

Many thanks, Nicola

Reply from Joanne Kennedy - Garden Blueprints

I had a message to say Grasslands nursery, Cheshire was still doing orders and I'm not sure if a perennial nursery I use called manor Farm Nurseries, Northamptonshire are still fulfilling orders as I know they are closed to visitors but not had anything to say they have closed to getting orders together.
Hope this might help.

A member contacted us with this list too:

A Thompson & Morgan spokesperson said: " However, we are certainly noticing a huge increase in online traffic, and in sales growth across all areas, with a particular emphasis on edibles - veg seeds and plants across the board are selling well.

"We’re also noticing lots of engagement on social media amongst the gardening and allotment community. Many are sharing progress and tips on sowing and growing – it’s great to see the support between newcomers to gardening and the more experienced growers!"

Mail order retailers including Suttons, Mr Fothergill's Hayloft, Gardening Express, YouGarden, Chrysanthemums Direct and many more are seeing upsurges in sales after garden centres closed this week. Suttons has reported sales 400-700% up in some categries of edible seeds and young plants, while Dalefoot Composts mail order sales are up 1500%.

Seeds of Italy said: "We had three weeks worth of orders in two days last weekend. That was mostly seed, but we also sell Italian flour and pasta of course."

Garden centres are also increasing online sales and home deliveries, while nurseries have introduced deliveries. However, have delays on despatch.

Hardy's Cottage Garden Plants has a new home delivery service to customers who live within a 20 mile radius of the nursery, which is in Freefolk in Hampshire. Hortus Loci is delivering within 15 miles of Hook, Hampshire but the shop is closed. Avon Bulbs is delivering within 12 miles of its South Petherton, Somerset nursery and like many nurseries, trying to sell of show plants after event cancellations. Crocus, Ashwood, T&M, RHS, Sarah Raven and Delfland are among mail order companies that said delivery times were longer than usual.

Buying from Tendercare Nurseries Ltd Safely
Update 3rd April 2020
Hi
We specialise in specimen plants and trees and offer a planting service, whilst still observing all social distancing rules. After updating our risk assessments to ensure that we look after the health and well being of our customers and colleagues we have come up with the following solutions.
Researching your order
Try our webshop or our easy and quick Tendercare APP can be downloaded onto your phone. You can search on latin name or part of the name (thank goodness!). For our trade customers we offer a trade log on contact us @trade at tendercare.co.uk
Visiting the nursery
If local you can visit the nursery alone (or anyone you share the house with) by pre-booked appointment. We can also send photos or do a video link to you for viewing larger stock rather than you visiting. We are not currently open for cash and carry.
Collections
Once the order is picked we will contact you with the details and request payment over the telephone. We will agree on a date and time with you to collect your order and advise you of our distancing rules.
Deliveries
Our drivers will perform the offload. Distancing rules apply and paperwork will be emailed. Our drivers will not require a signature.
Thank you for your support and stay safe.
Best wishes from all the team at
Tendercare Nurseries, Denham Uxbridge
