It's a Hortensia Hydrangea. Any more than that, though, is hard to pronounce upon with certainty. There are very many varieties, and it's not unusual to have them flower right into the winter, or at least for their flowers to persist late into the year. Soil chemistry can also alter their colour. It's a kaleidoscope of colour, though, at a time of year when it's most welcome.

Hello Simon,

I‘ve only just seen your reply, thank you so much. I'll begin my research into Hortensia Hydrangeas and make this my first serious attempt at growing from cuttings. Fortunately I know the owner!
