obviously temperatures in england are ideal in summertime but in winter will fall below the range that gardenias love. sun strength and humidity in london should be ok...has anyone grown these outside? i am thinking of a sheltered spot that gets light from the north and east (morning sun)...

Hi! I haven't grown Gardenias in London, but have grown quite a few other things that are just as tender. As long as it is against a warm wall (preferable an outside house wall) it should be okay - having said that, just be mindful if the weather forecast calls for frost/freezing temps. In that case, protect it ASAP.
