Our hydrangea seemani is in its third summer and shows no sign of flowereing. Is this normal or should it be flowereing by now? It is on north facing wall and has grown to a height of about 8ft. with a spread of 3-4ft.

Hi Paul,

Don’t worry this is perfectly normal, Hydrangea seemanii is known for being shy to flower in its early years. The conditions you have it in are suitable, and it sounds as though its putting on growth at a very healthy rate, so just keep doing what you’re doing and you should be rewarded in the next couple of years I should think.

Hope this helps! Don’t forget to add to your ‘plants I have’ list http://www.shootgardening.co.uk/plant/hydrangea-seemanii.

Regards
Katy
