Will I damage my Skimmia through pruning, what is the best way to cut it back?

Hi, Lindsey,
Your Skimmia is in pruning group 8. As a spring flowering, evergreen shrub that flowers on previous or current year's growth, it should require minimal pruning. Best time to prune is after flowering in late spring or early summer and only trim or lightly cut back misplace, dead or damaged branches. You can also deadhead spent flower clusters. Other than that, it shouldn't need any more pruning. If you prune now, you might lose some flowers next spring.
