When or if should you prune this shrub? Have had one for almost a year now. And whilst I am at it., any reason for it not to produce any fruit this year?

Hi, K-J,
Chaenomeles x superba 'Crimson and Gold' is in pruning group 2 so the best time to prune is right after flowering. As far as fruiting, could be a number of reasons. Is it in full sun? Full sun is best for fruiting. When was it planted last year? Have you had fruit on it before? Might be that it is still recovering from transplanting.
