I planted the above in 2009,but it has hardly moved. It has grown a bit horizontally, but there is no upward growth from the middle of the plant. What can I do to get it going?

Hi, Caroline,
My first thought is position - is it planted in full sun/partial shade (tho I have found they do better with full sun)? Have you fertilised/mulched it recently? The horizonatal growth is expected because it naturally likes to spread its branches out. Only other problem is it might need to be lifted and planted more firmly in the ground, with care taken to avoid any air pockets around the roots.
