I'm wondering if anyone has tried growing rhubarb in a container.

I don't really have the growing space to grow rhubarb in my garden, so I thought I would have a go at planting it in a container.

I've used the largest container I have and have planted a crown in some multi-purpose compost mixed with my home made compost.

I don't know how it will do in a container, but I'll keep you posted.

In the meantime, if anyone has any tips for me they would be very welcome.

Jo.

Hi Jo

My advice is not to let it dry out and to feed it every year. Good luck with it. Marissa

Thanks Marissa.

I always make sure my containers are well watered, they seem to dry out so much quicker than the ground does.

What do you suggest feeding it with?

Thanks,
Jo.

My Father who lived to 98, and had a big allotment where he grew almost every vegetable you could think of,
grew his Rhubarb in a buried bucket with holes in the side to let the rain water out.
One good thing about growing it in a bucket it
keeps it contained to stop it spreading.

Thanks Gordon. I've noticed that it is just starting to grow now, so hopefully it will do ok.

I'll let you know.
