I love the colour of this plant's flower, but wondering what other plants work well with it. I have a 'modern' cottage garden style with other deep wine colours but not sure how best to show off this potentilla.

Hi Jill, if you want to show off your deep wine colour, can I suggest a zingy orange as a contrasting colour. These colours look great together in a hot/jewel colour scheme.
Companion planting would of course be lead by conditions in your garden. Have a try at the advance search on Shoot putting in your preferred colours or attributes and see what comes up.
There are some beautiful Achilleas, Heleniums, Hemerocalis and lillies in contrasting colours to your Potentilla.
Hope this has given you some ideas. Angie
