We've had our Sephora Japonica for about 4 years and it's flowering like crazy for the first time. Problem is our dog seems to love the flowers! I was concerned about the potential toxicity and found your website and read that they're highly toxic! I haven't found this warning on other sights about this tree.
Is it truly that toxic? If it is we're very sadly going to have to remove it.

Hi Susan - that must be a worry. I found this other source which says it is mildly toxic. Unsure whether it would harm a dog or not. Perhpas seek advice from your vet? Kind regards, Nicola

Hi, Susan,
The seeds are the poisonous part so if you can deadhead the spent flowers before the seeds develop, you can leave it.

Thank you so much for your kind reply and information.
I called our vet and they forwarded me to Poison Control here in the U.S. They said the bark is mostly poisonous and the seed pods as you mentioned after it flowers.
Thank youso much, our little Buddy is going to be fine, and we are keeping him away from them as much as possible.
