I have this camelllia, and it has been healthy and vigorous for 5 years. It alwys blooms in Feb - March and this year was loaded with buds. However, only a few flowers opened, and they were quite late, in April. Now the entire plant looks like it is dying, with brown, droopy leaves. What has gone wrong?

Re: Mahonia Charity

from Katherine Simmonds

I also have this mahonia, and although it is in part shady, which I thought it preferred, it doesn't seem to be growing at all. It looks healthy enough, but just a bud of flowers, no real blossoms. Any ideas?

Re: Bottlebrush

from Katherine Simmonds

Hi William - my bottlebrush looks exactly the same, but it is alive. I had wrapped it in fleece during the worst of the winter but it still was damaged. I dug it up from the border where it had been and put it in a pot in a more sheltered spot, fed it and am now hoping for a revival. The winter was defintely hard - I have lost a couple of other things as well. Fingers crossed they will recover and flourish

Re: is my garrya dead?

from Katherine Simmonds

thanks Elaine. It is pretty big to move to a more sheltered position so I will feed it and hope that it revives.
