Re: Ground cover

from eileen whiddett

I;ve got in my garden a very bright yellow strong grass which is evergreen and stunning all the year. Not very high, but I'm going to plant a load of these in a round sloping bed together with a dark red elder - think it's called black lace - I'm hoping that it will curb the couch grass, but I'm blowed if I can remember the name. Any suggestions as to what it might be called. It would seem ideal for the man who's got a sloping garden. Just found out !!! - it's called Acorus

Thanks Veronica. I have a cephalaria gigantica (is that how we spell it) in that part of the garden, so I'll give it a try down there. Should look stunning when it comes into flower. Regards

scabiosa barocca

Having succumbed to the charm of this lovely flower and bought three I am now in a quandary. My soil is acid and I see it prefers a chalky sandy soil. How do I give it the right conditions to suit it. Eileen

Re: golden elder

Thank you Kathy - I'm having second thoughts now. Don't think the root pruning could be an option as it would be a big and heavy plant. Thanks anyway - Eileen
