Re: Euonymus disease/pest

from Alan

Update - in case anyone's remotely interested, which I doubt, they all recovered and survived. All I did was sprayed them with gen purpose pest spray.

Re: Grevillea robusta - No flowers yet!

from Alan

It's the plant with whispy foliage. When I bought it at a flower show they had a larger display example, that was in bloom, so I know it can flower - lots of red flowers! I bought it from a small flower show in Southend and the seller lied to me and said it was hardy! It's not really attractive enough for the conservatory, hence the last hurrah in the courtyard - "kill or cure"!!

Grevillea robusta - No flowers yet!

from Alan

I've had 2 of these in my greenhouse for 2 years and they have yet to flower! This year I have moved them into my courtyard; one in the ground and one in a flower pot. (They grew well in the greenhouse, about 1m tall). Has anyone else grown these and got flowers?

Euonymus disease/pest

from Alan

Can anyone tell me what's wrong with my Euonymus - see pictures. The leaves are curling, then they dry out and drop off.
I have several plants in different parts of the garden and all have the same problem. They've been in for several years, and this is the first time I've seen this. Any help appreciated!

Update: I planted 3 in water at the pond edge, and they've thrived.

Warning!

from Alan

I planted a couple of these in my pond a few years ago. Its a large pond, about half the size of a football pitch, and it has spread everywhere. It grows like a weed on steroids! It's even gone into the lawn!
If you do plant it, make sure you keep an eye on it!

Carex elata Aurea

from Alan

Will this grass grow on the edge of a pond if the roots are actually under water?
