Appeared from nowhere - any ideas what is it?

from Muriel

This plant has self-seeded and I would appreciate help to identify it. It is quite large - about 1.5m tall and about 1m wide, with pretty blue flowers, and it is now producing large chinese lantern type seeds. Any ideas? Many thanks

Re: Re growth on beech hedge

Hi Christine
Glad to hear that your beech hedge has survived! I wouldn't bother rubbing off any of the new shoots - let it grow and then give it a trim either next Spring or next Autumn, depending on how it gets on.

Hi Christine. Am so sorry to hear about the vandals. The good news is that the beech should regenerate and I think you should see some growth in a few weeks. It may be a bit thin for a while but given time it should fill out. You might want to consider 'laying' the hedge to make it stronger and thicker over time?

Re: I need to move my Bronze Fennel, will it survive if I move it now? Also could I divide it whilst I am moving it?

from Muriel

I have just moved mine and it has survived. Take it with a big root ball and don't break the tap root. Replant it immediately and give it lots of water. It will droop initially, but it should recover and perk up after a few days. Good luck!
