Deadheading Echium 'Blue Bedder'

from Ashleigh McMinn

Can anyone tell me how to deadhead Echium? Do I take off individual flowers or the whole flowering stem?

Re: Good Garden Plants

from Ashleigh McMinn

Clematis 'Niobe' easy, beautiful and long blooming, Verbena bonariensis, Linaria 'Canon Went' also Erysium 'Bowles Mauve' I've had it flowering into December, it gets woody after a couple of years but it's so easy to root from cuttings. I have a small garden so I'm always looking for hardy long flowering perennials. Which do you recommend?

Yes I think that's it, thank you so much Elaine. Do you happen to know if you can leave one of the compact Clematis in a hanging basket through the winter?

Thanks Elaine, it has yellow stamens though, I thought Henryi were supposed to have brown/purplish centres?

Can anyone identify this Clematis?

from Ashleigh McMinn

This Clematis started flowering this week, the flowers are huge, I have no idea what it is or how long it will continue flowering, any ideas?

Clematis in hanging baskets

from Ashleigh McMinn

Can you leave compact Clematis in a hanging basket through the winter without water (other than rain) or will it die?

Schizostylis coccinea

from Ashleigh McMinn

I planted three young plants which looked perfectly healthy about a month ago, they don't seem to have grown much and each one has a few leaves which are dry and mottled yellow, they are in light shade in moist loam, is it a disease or do they need feeding?

Does anyone know where I can buy this plant? I've googled it but can only find it in US nurseries.
