Half acre cottage garden on greensand and chalk, surrounded by fields. Mostly hawthorn hedge. Wildlife pond. Orchard area with long grass left uncut till autumn. Three rose hedges (Stanwell Perpetual, rugosa Jens Munk, rugosa Frau Dagmar Hastrup). Favourite plants are old-fashioned roses, hardy geraniums, hellebores. Very, very cold in winter as it is down in a dip, with land sloping up on three sides. Conservatory with regal and scented-leafed pelargoniums. There is not a published plan for this garden yet.

About me
Mad about rescuing old dogs (I have six). Love classical music, theatre, cooking, antiques, gentle walking in surrounding countryside etc
Gardening expertise
Very Keen
Biggest gardening accomplishments
None really, except it looks quite nice, but mostly thanks to David who comes to weed for a few hours a week, Steve who cuts grass, and Neil who prunes, does hedges etc
Biggest gardening frustrations
My garden is freezing, we are down in a hollow and the frost rolls down the hill and just sits. Have lost many, many plants over the 2009 and 2010 winters.
Also, Trilby, the JRT/lurcher is a frantic digger and has ruined a lot of precious plants
The gardening project I am currently working on
Nothing specific
