Soil types: Sandy

Soil drainage: Well-drained

Light: Full Sun

Aspect: North

Exposure: Sheltered

Hardiness: Hardy (H4)

A long garden in the process of being completely made over into a series of 'rooms', each with a different character and use: Working/bin area,Herb bed, seating/entertaining area, vegetable garden, 'cottage garden', woodland and small pond area. So far I have made raised vegetable beds, created a path from recycled materials. We have two large sycamore trees at the far end - the 'woodland' garden. I also want to create a herb bed near to the back door using a mixture of planters made from bits of old wood and creating small low hedges to screen the planters, dig out a pond and create a pergola climbing with field rose at the end of the path. Possibly some hard standing near the pond and a log bench to watch the wildlife. Replanting and re-designing the boarders in the middle 'cottage' garden has been delayed by the discovery of ground elder. Fuscias arrive soon to create a hedge.
