Styles: Allotment or vegetable plot, Contemporary, Lighting, Suburban, Water
Soil types: Clay
Soil drainage: Moist but well-drained, Pond/In water
Soil pH: Neutral
Light: Partial Shade
Aspect: South
Exposure: Sheltered
Aspect is South East. Although it is sheltered, it is prone to frost as it is adjacent to large open parkland. There is a large pond with two raised planters. The East facing planter is shaded most of the day but the west facing one has sunlight most of the day. A white cobbled path leads through an arch to a circular lawn. There is a willow arch over a seated area beneath the Ash tree. A gravelled area leads up to the shed and greenhouse. In front of the greenhouse, I made a circular stone mosaic surrounded with a lavender hedge. On each side of this area, there is an espaliered apple tree and a trough of blueberry bushes. Beyond this, there is a pergola planted with roses and clematis leading to raised vegetable beds and a kids' play house. The gate at the bottom leads directly into a large park.Tip: Click zoom out button above to see entire garden plan
About me
I started this garden 3 years ago. When we moved into the house, the garden had a rectangular lawn, surrounded by a few shrubs and roses. There was a large Ash tree and a huge fir. We had an extension built onto the back of the house and when it was complete, I got stuck into the garden.
The decking overhangs a large pond with two raised planters.
The gate at the bottom leads directly into a large park.
