David M Harvey, My Garden (EX36)

Styles: Balcony, Courtyards and small terraces, Minimalist

First Photo is of my garden at the rear with hardly a plant in sight. 18 months later mid 2012 I have 14 Dahlias which I have grown on from cuttings and tubers. I am so pleased with there growth. I have now ordered some 50 differant varieties of Fuchsias, I am afraid I have taken to them, all in all some 130 plants. A lot to look forward to in 2013, may be making work for myself but I am just enjoying the effort so much.

About me
My first steps into gardening in 2012, albeit container and patio gardening but wanted a flower to work with that I liked and wanted in abundance. Started with a few Dahlias in my first year but I am afraid I have turned to Fuchsias, given some initially from my Wife's ex and now totally hooked, I can't stop taking cuttings from otherwise throw away bits of plants. I now have some 60 different cultivars and loving every minute with them.

Gardening expertise
Very Keen

Biggest gardening accomplishments
Early days, but learning from successful Fuchsia growers through there online sites, going through different ways of taking cuttings, growing, using there ideas trying them out and finding the most successful way with what you have available to work with.

Biggest gardening frustrations
I did buy many plug plants from established large garden plant suppliers on line, I was keen and wanted many plants. Never again as I was sent so much rubbish, now plants are coming into flower I find ones I never ordered. As I have found to my cost ..not the way to go... Don't trust them If you haven't seen them now is my motto.

The gardening project I am currently working on
I have a book on Fuchsias by Ken Pilkington and have set myself out to producing Fuchsias his way. Multi grow Fuchsias that is to work with multiple cuttings rather than just one, producing plants that are more compact and produce flowers in abundance.
