Long axis of garden is east west, open to south, with large mature sycamore and walnut trees shading to north. London clay needs lots of compost, but roses grow well ( in spite of black spot). Root veges don't. Have shrubs providing shade for ferns and hostas. Herb garden and vegetable border in sun most of the day. Perennials close to house for colour and scent. West end of gardern shaded by large sycamore and garden shed. House shelters garden from morning sun, leaving front garden in afternoon shade. There is not a published plan for this garden yet.
