The structure of my garden on the south facing side was redesigned by me in 2008 using new french oak sleepers as a retaining wall, incorporating a bench in the same material. The idea was to keep it simple and bold to echo the design of our modern house. I had some help with planting ideas from designers Planting Gems. The colour theme throughout the whole garden is soft blues/ lilacs/ whites/ wines with accents of cerise when the rose Zepherine Drouhin is out thro Summer to early Autumn. The overall effect is calm, serene and tranquil created also by a harmony of various green and deep burgundy red plants and their textures. It was also important to me to have all year round interest made possible by a row of Phyllostachys nigra, Phormiums in greens and purples and grasses mainly Stipa tenuissima. Rhodedendrons and Tree ferns nestle together in the shade carpeted with Asarum. There is not a published plan for this garden yet.
