About me
I can't be very active here, but i'll do my best.
Learning from books. I have binges of passion for plants, indoors and out, and intervals ’off’.
Never tried veg; tried and failed with herbs. Flowers: i prefer whites, oranges, yellows. Love primroses, poppies, tulips, big floppy blooms. Not keen on crocus (don't know why), pansies, or anything mauve.
Got arthritic in my 30s (i'm now 41) and in '06 i was seriously ill. The garden's neglected. Need low-maintenance shrubs! Doubt we’ll ever get any raised beds built; finally got dh composting, but the £15 mini greenhouse isn't up yet after 2 years. Our garden is small, paved, most soil very shallow. I want containers, and always ruin them.
Indoors: too many crassula (got carried away with cuttings), an Aeonium i'm very fond of; many Lithops (their appeal is intellectual more than aesthetic!)

Gardening expertise
Keen but Clueless
Biggest gardening accomplishments
Doing any. Some days it's difficult. Last year i bought bulbs but was only able to get 2 of them in the ground before they rotted.
Indoors, i have saved a succulent from root rot *twice*, grown lychee from seed twice. Looking forward to my sausage tree (Kirelia) seeds.
Biggest gardening frustrations
Number one biggest frustration: my knees.
2. Wind (we're on a wild wet Wiltshire hill!)
3. You can spend either time or money out there... having neither to spend.
4. Footballs.
5. Can't get heathers to survive. Why oh why can't i?
The gardening project I am currently working on
With a new fence that has altered microclimates, thinking where to move things. Also want to grow stuff over walls and flagstones.
Sorry, Rachel, missed your reply
