Natalie , My Garden (WD37)

Styles: Suburban, Wildlife

Soil types: Clay

Soil drainage: Moist but well-drained

Soil pH: Acid

Light: Full Sun, Partial Shade

Aspect: South, West

Exposure: Sheltered

The garden has a semi-circular patio near the house and the rest is largely laid to lawn with mature shrub filled beds and a fruit area at the far end. There are many plants, including: roses, rhododendrons, hydrangeas, camelias, chrysanthemums, apples, pears and raspberries. The roses in the main rose bed recently have been very poor and new roses have failed. I am assuming that it will no longer function as a rose bed and am planting new ones elsewhere. I need to find some good replacement planting for the old rose bed. We have lost three apple trees in recent years and, apart from 2011 we generally do not get a great deal of apples. The pear trees produce very few fruits. We are plagued by bindweed and I need to find a solution to this. The garden is visited by many birds, foxes and the occasional muntjac deer.
