Our garden is in Ottawa,Ontario Canada. We live on about 1 acre but our house and garden occupy half while the rest is native shrubbery with a few basswood as well as white spruce and red pines that we planted about 13 years ago.

Biggest gardening accomplishments
Our yard has been certified by the Canadian Wildlife Federation. We try to use native plants that provide shelter and food for birds and other small wildlife such as rabbits.. There is a water source in Spring, Summer and Fall and we do not use pesticides.

Biggest gardening frustrations
I have tried to provide a "pollinator corridor" ; native plants in full sun along half the ditch that is visible to us from our front porch. These plants provide endless food supplies for birds and sometimes a home to toads, however, it has been cut down in the past by city workers.

The gardening project I am currently working on
Maintaining the vegetable patch with our son. G. is in charge of the cucumber plants and we are growing tomatoes, pole beans, sugar snap peas, red peppers, garlic and asparagus. There is always mulching and composting to be done as well as watering annu
