Graham Roberts, My Garden (SY11)

Styles: Allotment or vegetable plot, English cottage

Soil drainage: Moisture-retentive

My initial planting plan was to combine the colour, texture and shape of my favourite perennial plants alongside the structure of shrubs and lawn layout in order to create a balanced and striking layout. The planting style is very informal with the emphasis on a flowing and relaxed arrangement and I have tried to imitate how things grow naturally using softly intertwined plants and casually positioned shrubs with occasional bulbs poking through.

Biggest gardening frustrations
1. Battling with moss filled lawns. I am endeavoring to be moss free within fifty years, with a bit of luck and a good strong head wind I should achieve it. 2. Not knowing the name of the plant that I should know the name of 3. Forgetting to use plant labels...You can never remember what they were can you? 4 Clothes lines

The gardening project I am currently working on
I am creating a small potager garden that is not only ornamental but productive too.It has raised beds flanked with old reclaimed bricks,it looks attractive and provides us with runner beans, shallots, kale, spinach, chard, potatoes red currants and herbs
