Annette wilkinson, My Garden (TS12)

Styles: English cottage, Suburban

Soil types: Clay

Soil drainage: Moist but well-drained

Light: Full Sun

Aspect: South

Exposure: Exposed

After moving into a new build house 6 years ago we have built the garden up from a bare patch. It is south facing but we're on a corner and the wind can be a problem sometimes ! Because its quite a big garden and overlooked by other houses we put up a climbing structure in the centre of the garden to try and break it up and to offer some privacy and height to the garden. I'm still pretty new to gardening and I work so I don't have a lot of time to spend in it but I'm keen to learn more.I put some climbers in last year which are only just starting to get going after the shocking weather of last summer but I'm hopeful that I'll get some coverage this year. My new addition this year is a potting shed as I'd like to grow my own plants and also have a " den " to escape to !

About me
I'm a busy working mum who loves nothing more than pottering around my garden. I get so much satisfaction when I see last years perennials emerge from the ground and burst back into life ! Loving all this great summer weather we're having !

Gardening expertise

Biggest gardening accomplishments
We have a 25+ year old pieris forest flame that has survived growing in a pot which I am very proud of.

Biggest gardening frustrations
Not having enough time and money to make my garden even more special.

The gardening project I am currently working on
Trying desperately to plant anything that grows quickly to cover the pergola we had put in last year ( 2012 ) as it was bigger than we expected when it was built !
