About me
My husband Bob and I have been gardening for a few years. I am more interested in planting and Bob likes working on infrastructure, ponds and vegetables. We have very busy lives, but late 2007 I was diagnosed with cancer and the treatment left me quite debilitated, so I can't do heavy gardening. However, I did manage to do a lot of container work over the last year. Our suburban garden is hard going - north facing at the back, partly sloping, clay with a conifer hedge along one side. But we have strips of trees to the back and side with lots of wildlife. The front porch gets very hot. My health is still poor so I am going to keep focused on growing containers and replacing annuals with perennials where I can to make it easier for Bob to maintain. I'm now recording more info and think I have become more skilled over the last year.

Gardening expertise
Very Keen

Biggest gardening accomplishments
Bob - the ponds and the terrace. The new patio. Also some good tomato crops. Me - some good containers last summer front and back. Learning 'right plant right place'. Growing on and planting plugs etc and improving my container displays.

Biggest gardening frustrations
The garden is very untidy. It's also cold and partially shaded at the back. The greenhouse is shaded by a tree and hopelessly cluttered. The front garden is very hot and the clay bakes hard. My health makes it difficult to do anything involving a lot of effort, so very slow!

The gardening project I am currently working on
We have had a small conservatory built so I am planning some indoor plants and Bob has bought me a propagator. Bob is going to put up a new shed and build a greenhouse where the pergola is.
