About me
Leaving the world of work shortly and I'm looking forward to improving the garden into an oasis of calm and beauty. Well, I can dream! I enjoy beautiful gardens, natural world, photography and genealogy.

Gardening expertise

Biggest gardening accomplishments
Tackling huge established mixed hedges of holly, hawthorn and privet with loppers and saw to bring them back to a more manageable size. I know I did it the hard way but at least I was in control!

Biggest gardening frustrations
Poor soil, long thin garden and hedges that take much of the moisture. I have replaced the worst areas with fencing but am keen to keep most of the hedges as a wildlife habitat.

The gardening project I am currently working on
Just revamping the garden and recognise I need to improve the soil. I'm considering dividing the garden into rooms so I can plant away from the hedges. I would like to choose nectar-rich plants for butterflies and bees and am considering making the orchard area into a wild flower meadow ... inspired by Monty Don's recent programme.
