As we are a new build I have had the advantage of a clean slate to develope the garden. Year one got off to a good start, I have a vegetable area with some fruit trees. Flowers & shrubs around the house and a herb garden close to the kitchen. We are 1038 feet above sea level, so strong winds are a problem. We are blessed with fabulous views of the surrounding mid wales hills. I have also planted an acre of land to lavender ( Grosso, Royal Purple & Imperial Gem) and so far its established & looking good. There is not a published plan for this garden yet.
There are no plants in the wish list for this garden.
About me
I have always loved gardening and now have an exciting project ahead in that my partner & I have project managed our house build. I am now developing the flower & vegetable garden and so far so good. I am new to vegetable growing but am enjoying the learning and putting into practice. I am also about to plant a one acre field to Lavender and possibly fruit canes. This is unusual in Mid Wales especially as I am 1,000 feet above sea level. The field ticks all the boxes for the right growing conditions and there is a successful project underway near by in Builth Wells. So watch this space. Any advice gratefully received.

Biggest gardening accomplishments
The garden I am setting up now. I have a clean slate and want to create a garden full of colour, scent and a place to relax in. Then to enter the vegetable & orchard area which will be productive. I also want to establish a herb garden near the kitchen. This exciting project will keep me going for years to come!
Biggest gardening frustrations
Very windy, exposed and stony.
The gardening project I am currently working on
Preparing the lavender field for planting next week and March 2010
