A. plicatilis - A. plicatilis is a tender, succulent, shrub or small tree with branched stems bearing fleshy, strap-shaped, spineless, sometimes orange-flushed, blue-grey to grey-green leaves arranged in stacked pairs resembling fans. Spikes of tubular, yellow-tipped, orange-red flowers bloom from leaf clusters from late winter into spring.
