'Red Majestic' _ 'Red Majestic' is an upright, medium-sized, deciduous shrub or small tree with twisted branches bearing broadly heart-shaped, wrinkled, toothed leaves, bright red-purple in spring turning red-flushed, green in summer. Purple-red catkins on bare stems in winter are followed by red nuts in autumn.

Pruning group 1 or 8. To maximise nut production break the sideshoots half way along their length in late summer. Then shorten these shoots to 3-4 buds when the catkins are shedding pollen in late winter. Remove up to one third of old overcrowded shoots

Cultivation

Plant in moist, free-draining, ideally alkaline soil in full sun or partial shade. To maximise nut production, grow as a bush. Keep soil clear in a 60cm radius around trunk. Grow at least two cultivars for pollination.
