Pellaea is a genus of about 80 species of deciduous or evergreen, terrestrial ferns found in sheltered locations in semi-desert refions in South Africa, South America, Canada, the United States and Australasia. Pinnate fronds emerge from erect rhizomes in spring and sori (spore cases) from around the segment margins.
