Cultivation

Prefers fertile, moist but well-drained, slightly acidic or neutral soil in full sun or partial shade, sheltered from cold, drying winds. Shallow, chalky soils may cause leaves to yellow. Will not tolerate drought so mulch annually in spring.

General biosecurity comments

Virus affecting Hosta; present in the UK since at least the early 2000’s. Mechanically transmitted so spread can be reduced by good hygiene practices and use of healthy propagating material within the industry.
