P. bifurcatum is a variable, evergreen, epiphytic fern with erect or horizontal, rounded, heart-shaped, or kidney shaped, mid-green sterile fronds turning brown with age and forked, densely hairy, grey-green fertile fronds with strap-shaped segments.
