L. hildebrandiana is a vigorous, tender, evergreen to semi-evergreen climber with paired, oval to broadly ovate, dark green leaves and, in summer, racemes of strongly fragrant, two-lipped, slender, tubular, creamy-white flowers fading to orange with age. Flowers are followed by spherical red fruit.

Lonicera similis var. delavayi (Delavay honeysuckle)

L. similis var. delavayi is a semi-evergreen shrub of climbing habit. It has ovate, dark-green leaves that are white-hairy beneath. In autumn it bears fragrant, tubular, white flowers which turn yellow. These are followed by black berries.
