Quercus petraea (Sessile oak)

Q. petraea is a large, broad, rounded to spreading, deciduous tree with ridged, grey bark and yellow-stalked, leathery, ovate or oblong, lobed, dark green leaves turning orange-brown in autumn. Insignificant dull yellow flowers in spring are followed by stalkless, oblong to ovoid, brown acorns, borne singly or in clusters in autumn.
